Thanks to the company “Bemax”, the asphalt arrived in Gornje Pode: the new road brings life back to the forgotten village
Without this asphalting, this village was practically paralyzed, said one of the residents
The inhabitants of Gornji Pod, a village above Bar, are finally getting an asphalted road to their homes. The works were carried out by the company “Bemax” and the project was financed by the Municipality of Bar.
The new road, 2.2 kilometers long, provides easier access to houses, but also opens up opportunities for further development of agriculture and tourism. The locals, who believe that this will revive the almost abandoned village, expressed their gratitude by having lunch together with the workers.
“People have already started to return and the village is developing. We currently have four farms engaged in various productions, and tourism has also started to develop since last year, so this will be very important for the development of the village,” said local resident Ljubo Kočović.
His neighbor, Tefik Perazić, also agreed.
“I can freely say that now it is already different compared to how it was, because it was completely abandoned. We had no opportunity to do anything here. Without this asphalting, this village was practically paralyzed. Now I hope that the locals, of whom there are many in the diaspora, will get an incentive to repair the old houses and arrange their hearths,” Perazić points out.
They add that this is an extremely difficult section that was successfully overcome by the company “Bemax”. 2,200 meters of inaccessible road were asphalted, the project is financed by the Municipality of Bar and the value of the works is 747,000 euros.
“The start of the works is February 15, 2025, and the deadline for carrying out the works is five months from the day of introduction. “Bemax”, as in any other project, makes maximum efforts to carry out the works in the shortest possible time”, said the engineer of the “Bemax” company Milan Knežević.
He thanked the villagers of Donja Poda for, as he said, their exceptional cooperation and understanding.
The locals expressed their gratitude by having a joint lunch with the workers of the “Bemax” company, where they celebrated the fact that tomorrow they will reach their homes on the asphalt instead of the inaccessible road.
