Asphalting of nearly 50 kilometers of roads is planned in Pljevlja, and the works, carried out by the company Bemax, are already underway at several locations. Most of the 32 million funds were provided from the municipal budget, and the rest of the money comes from the state treasury.
September in Pljevlja is marked by machines and construction sites – new roads are being built on several fronts, while old ones are getting a completely new face. Asphalting of new streets is being done in rural areas, while urban roads are also expected to be reconstructed soon. By implementing the contracts from last year and the current year, citizens will receive as much as 32 kilometers of new asphalt. With additional support from the state, it is expected that by the end of the year, Pljevlja will have almost 50 kilometers of renovated and newly constructed roads.
“That is very important. With those investments, we would reduce the work on ongoing maintenance, which is a big problem every year. We pad and repair the roads, macadam pavement curtain, rain and snow will do their work on the same roads every year, but we have to do it for the sake of the people who live in the villages,” Vule Macanović, secretary of the Secretariat for Housing and Communal Activities in the Municipality of Pljevlja, told Television E.
The company Bemax in the territory of the municipality of Pljevlja is currently performing asphalting works on local and uncategorized roads. The works are carried out on the basis of three valid contracts signed with the investor – the Municipality of Pljevlja.
“The work on those three contracts is taking place in parallel and in accordance with the planned dynamics of the works. I would like to emphasize that Bemax, in addition to these three contracts, should soon start the implementation of the fourth contract, which was also signed with the investor of the works, the Municipality of Pljevlja, and which concerns the rehabilitation of the streets in the city area. The total value of the contracted works is three million and 850 thousand euros,” Milan Knežević, an engineer at the Bemax company, told Television E.
The Municipality of Pljevlja will allocate around 600,000 euros for asphalting the city roads in Pljevlja, which have worn out due to the ravages of time. Despite the significant funds allocated for new asphalt, a large number of unpaved roads remain in the area of this municipality. The local administration points out that they allocate funds according to priorities and that every route is equally important to them.”

We, primarily when determining those roads for asphalting, take care that it goes towards some local communities that have schools, that have registered or active agricultural producers”, says Vule Macanović, Secretary of the Secretariat for Housing and Communal Activities in the Municipality of Pljevlja.
He points out that he is satisfied with the dynamics and quality of the works, which are currently halfway through their implementation. A good part of the work, he adds, is also done by the local road maintenance company, which is responsible for the preparation and earthworks, so he assesses that this is an example of good cooperation between the local administration and contractors.
