The project includes securing the slope and improving the road on the upper and lower sides by creating retaining walls, as well as rehabilitating bridge structures. It includes the rehabilitation of all culverts and the construction of new ones, as well as the reconstruction of the complete pavement structure along the entire length of the route
Works on the reconstruction of the Lepenac – Ribarevine – Poda – Berane road began on July 31, and the investor is the Traffic Administration, while the project is financed by funds from the European Investment Bank.
The main contractor on the project is a consortium of Strabag AG and Bemax doo.
The contracted value of the works is EUR 35,731,859.52 excluding VAT.
“The contract for the works in question was signed on October 8, 2020. The works did not start earlier due to unresolved property relations, which prevented the investor from obtaining a construction permit,” Bemax technical director Milo Muhadinović told Portal Analitika.
The total length of the entire section is about 40 kilometers and the project is divided into three sections, Lepenac – Ribarevine with a total length of 12.90 km, Ribarevine – Poda with a total length of 14.90 km and Poda – Berane with a total length of 12.70 km.
“The project includes securing the slope and improving the road on the upper and lower sides by creating retaining walls as well as rehabilitating the bridge structures,” explains Muhadinović.
The project also, as our interlocutor adds, includes the repair of all culverts and the construction of new ones in the places foreseen by the project, as well as the reconstruction of the complete pavement structure along the entire length of the route.
“At the moment, work is being carried out on the project on support structures and piles as a foundation for support structures, and on earthworks for the purposes of forming slopes. In the coming period, we will continue with the same works”, says Muhadinović.
The deadline for completing the works is 24 months.
“Which means that the date of completion of the works is July 31, 2025,” concludes Muhadinović.
