One of the largest infrastructure projects in the north of Montenegro is entering its final phase: Asphalting of the remaining section of the main road Berane – Ribarevina has begun.

During the works, this section will be closed to traffic – from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Drivers are therefore advised to be patient, extra careful and plan their journey according to this schedule

Heavy machinery occupied the highway – rollers, trucks and hot layers of asphalt from which steam rises. Asphalting has begun on the 17-kilometer long route, in one of the final stages of the reconstruction of the road Berane – Ribarevina. The work worth more than 36 million euros brings relief and joy to the locals, especially those who live right next to the road.

Well, the asphalt finally arrived. No more uke and noise, dust.. Finally the asphalt came. I live right there, 150 meters away… We couldn’t live from the dust, now it’s great, okay. This means a lot for the citizens of Montenegro and it’s an honor – Beran citizen Mirko Milošević told Television E.

The works are taking place in stages, and today’s asphalting – started from the direction of Beran, from the roundabout towards Bijela Polje – marks the entry of the project into the final stage. The contractor says that the first layer of asphalt will be laid by September 25, while the second and final layer is expected by October 15.

Today we started asphalting the first layer of BNS from Beran towards Ribarevina. In parallel, works are being carried out on the asphalting of the second layer of the BNS from Ribarevina towards Podi, while work on leveling the pavement structure from Slijepča bridge towards Ribarevina is also underway. With the end of the tourist season, conditions have been created for increased Intensity of asphalting works, already three sections. We hope that the weather conditions will allow us to finish all the planned works as soon as possible – explains Bemax engineer Nemanja Madžgalj.

During the works, this section will be closed to traffic – from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Drivers are therefore advised to be patient, extra careful and plan their journey according to this schedule.

At the same time, we are working on the construction of a public lighting system in Zaton and Poda, where the total length of the sidewalk is 10 kilometers. I would also once again like to thank all road users for their understanding and patience – says Madžgalj.

Locals and travelers are relieved to welcome the first layer of asphalt – a sign that months of work is coming to an end. The long-awaited project is now taking its final shape, and the north of the country and its people are finally getting a road that means greater security and better connectivity.
