Despite the rain, work on the Jaz-Tivat boulevard continues; Leković: Bemax has hired enough machinery and resources to complete the work as soon as possible

Despite the weather conditions, the works on the Tivat – Jaz boulevard are proceeding according to plan. The Bemax company, which is the contractor, has hired enough machinery to complete the work as soon as possible.

The civil engineering coordinator at the company, Petar Leković, told the ETV portal that, including all the difficulties they face every day, the works on the Tivat – Jaz boulevard, which is about 16 kilometers long, are proceeding according to plan.

“As we know, during the summer tourist season, work was limited, primarily due to heavy traffic jams, which directly affected the intensity of the work. We are now entering a time with frequent rainy days, but regardless of all that, we have hired enough machinery and other resources to make up for lost time and complete the work as soon as possible,” said Leković.

The civil engineering coordinator at Bemax said that on the first 13 kilometers of the route – sections 1-7, which were previously handed over to the construction site, final works are currently being carried out on 80 percent of the route. The plan, Leković announced, is for at least one side of the boulevard to be covered with asphalt by the New Year, on the first 13 kilometers.

“That is, the construction of buffers and edge elements, asphalt and sidewalks, while on the remaining part of the route, excavations, embankments, drainage, installation of a new regional water supply system, as well as reinforced concrete works are being carried out. Currently, 8.5 kilometers of the right side are under asphalt and 6 kilometers of the left side. The plan is that by the new year, weather permitting, we will have at least one side of the boulevard under asphalt everywhere on the first 13 kilometers, in order to ensure completely unhindered traffic. Traffic is currently two-way on the entire construction site, with the exception of zones on the construction site where traffic is on the buffer due to the work being carried out,” he pointed out.

The final implementation of this part of the project, Leković says, is expected by spring.

“Unless there are major changes in terms of infrastructure obstacles, such as laying CEDIS installations and resolving the expropriation of a few more plots,” he added.

He also emphasized that the investor, that is, the Traffic Administration, ensured that the problems they have on the first 13 kilometers were minimized.

“From the very beginning of the construction site, new issues emerged every day, both regarding expropriation and regarding installations owned by CEDIS, Vodovod Kotor and others, which significantly affected the works,” said Leković.

The civil engineering coordinator at Bemax also points out that the remaining part of the boulevard, about three kilometers long, namely sections 8 and 9, was officially handed over to the construction site by the investor on November 11th.

“We immediately started work on that part of the construction site. The plan is to detect all the problems at the very beginning that we will have to face during the work in order to eliminate them in time and to focus on the work that will ensure the construction of at least one side of the asphalt as soon as possible,” concludes Leković.
